Sainul: Information Management …systems and services, it requires standardization atmetadata level.This study emphasized the need for metadatastandardization in the e-governance domain and analysedthe features of prominent e-government metadatastandards.The study shows that there is an inter-relation betweenelectronic information management and the e-governmentinformation management. It is observed that major e-governance metadata standards are evolved from theDublin Core Metadata Element Set, that is prominentlyused in electronic information management especially indigital library systems. It shows that the principles oflibrary science are getting wider acceptance in variousother fields, and libraries are being engaged in managingsuch vast information.AcknowledgementThis paper is based on the thesis submitted by the author tothe University of Pune.
