London & Partners, launched on 1 April 2011, was created by bringing together the remits of three separate promotional agencies, Visit London, Think London and Study London, to create a single vehicle to promote London to visitors, investors and students with one voice. The official convention bureau for the city London & Partners is home to the official convention bureau and offers a complete event service with free, impartial advice on planning any type of event in London. CASE STudy: Luminous Client Prudential Corporation Asia The event Prudential Corporation Asia, Presidents Club 10th Anniversary – Live it Up in London 2011 Requirements Luminous was tasked with creating the five-day programme, which was specifically designed as a ‘thank you’ and incentive for the corporation’s top achievers. Two hundred delegates from 10 countries throughout Asia would travel to London to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences, as well as attending a half-day company meeting at which Martina Navratilova was invited to speak. The itinerary was to include VIP hospitality services: a welcome reception at a unique location, pre-organised tours and experiences around the host city, a gala event to take place at a grand venue with local entertainment, and a ‘dine around’ at top restaurants. In addition to that, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was to be added to signify the special 10th anniversary programme. The required accommodation was to be of 5-star quality and equipped to host a group that was extremely well travelled Guests at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, venue for Prudential Corporation Asia’s 10th Anniversary Dinner and well versed in providing services to guests from around Asia. Event solution Through a hosted familiarisation trip in 2010, London & Partners introduced Luminous to suppliers and venues that would later become key players in the programme, including hospitality providers, a local DMC, and guest hotels The Langham and The Landmark. The event kicked off with a half-day business session and ‘dine around’ at 10 of London’s top restaurants and hotels. The visit was also organised to coincide with Wimbledon 2011, and on day 2 the group enjoyed a full-day VIP hospitality programme at the tennis tournament. The final day included a London treasure hunt with time to explore the city’s world-famous shopping outlets, followed by a river cruise to the gala dinner destination, the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, where the guests were treated to performances by West End theatre performers. Why London? London was the ideal destination for the event, providing a combination of world class hotels and restaurants, entertainment and professional event services. Wimbledon provided an iconic London experience to theme the tour around, as well as access to special guests and 5-star hospitality that would ensure the guests truly felt the VIP treatment. “London & Partners’ ability to provide professional support from the programme’s inception was extremely helpful, open and honest.
