Broad and Balanced...
Y6
Year 6 have been learning about inherited features, and adaptation/ natural
selection within science. We have explored how any living creature develops
characteristics that are handed down by their parents/ grandparents, and developed
an understanding that some features are developed through environmental
factors such as lifestyles, financial circumstances and learnt behaviours.
Year 6’s had chosen 2 characters from Mr Men and predicted what features
they might pass down to their children (inherited features). We then explored
the features of specific animals and how natural selection and adaptation has
changed these features over time.
We have also begun looking through parts of Anne Frank’s diary, which was
written during a 2-year period in WW2. We will be creating our own diary entries
based on the features identified within Anne Frank’s extracts.
