I hang up before she can say more. I refuse to accept any more

calls from her.

In the evenings Josh and I share a beer on his front porch

sometimes. We watch Leo and Delilah together, doing things that

brothers and sisters do. Kids are more buoyant than adults. They’re

quicker to bounce back. Even though Josh says there are times that

Delilah shows a strange affinity toward Bea—wishing she could talk

to her, that she could tell her something—she’s adapted well, slipped

right back into her old routine of teasing and taunting her brother. It’s

brought life back into Josh’s eyes. Their home is a joyful one.

evidence of this.
