Day 1: Fly to Tbilisi<br />

Fly from London (regional connections<br />

available) to Tbilisi. Transfer and stay at the<br />

Museum Hotel Orbeliani <strong>for</strong> 6 nights, arriving<br />

in time <strong>for</strong> a welcome drink. (N)<br />

Day 2: City tour of Tbilisi<br />

Tbilisi is a blend of cultures where myth and<br />

history meet. Embark on a comprehensive tour<br />

of the city including Narikala Fortress, which<br />

can be accessed by cable car. Spend your<br />

afternoon at leisure. Later, enjoy an aperitif<br />

at the house museum of 20th-century artist<br />

Elene Akhvlediani be<strong>for</strong>e your independent<br />

Day 3: Wine tasting in Kakheti<br />

Explore Kakheti, the biggest and most<br />

important winemaking region in Georgia. It<br />

was here 8,000 years ago that grapes were first<br />

cultivated to produce wine. Visit the ninthcentury<br />

Bodbe Monastery and the royal town<br />

of Sighnaghi. Here, enjoy a traditional Georgian<br />

cooking class followed by lunch and wine<br />

tasting. En route back to Tbilisi, stop at the<br />

Giuaani Winery. (B,L)<br />

Day 4: Day at leisure<br />

A free day to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of<br />

the Georgian capital. (B)<br />

Day 5: Visits to Mtskheta, Gori & Uplistsikhe<br />

Take a short drive to Georgia’s ancient capital,<br />

Mtskheta. Here you visit Jvari, a sixth-century<br />

cross-shaped monastery built on a cliff; the<br />

<strong>for</strong>tified 11th-century cathedral of Svetitskhoveli;<br />

and Iago’s Winery <strong>for</strong> a wine tasting. Visit<br />

the Joseph Stalin Museum. Your final stop is<br />

Uplistsikhe, known <strong>for</strong> its rock <strong>for</strong>mations and<br />

cave dwellings. Return to Tbilisi. (B)<br />

Day 6: Explore Georgia’s mountain region<br />

Full-day excursion to Georgia’s mountainous<br />

northern region. Explore the Mtiuleti and Khevi<br />

provinces, and – weather permitting – enjoy<br />

dramatic views of Mkinvartsveri. After an<br />

independent lunch in the town of Kazbegi, take<br />

a 4x4 safari to the iconic 14th-century Gergeti<br />

Old Town, Tbilisi, Georgia<br />

Trinity Church, set atop a verdant precipice in<br />

the shadow of Mount Kazbek. Return to Tbilisi<br />

<strong>for</strong> a late dinner. (B)<br />

Day 7: Fly to London<br />

Transfer to the airport and return to London. (B)<br />
