Day 4: Madaba • Mount Nebo • Shobak •<br />

Petra<br />

Travel along the King’s Highway, stopping<br />

en route at Madaba, Mount Nebo and the<br />

crusader castle at Shobak be<strong>for</strong>e arriving at<br />

Petra. Lunch will be taken in a converted house<br />

near to Madaba. Stay 2 nights at Mövenpick<br />

Resort Petra. Optional evening visit to Petra by<br />

This morning travel to Umm Qais to see the<br />

ruins of the Decapolis city of Gadara, set in the<br />

hills above the Jordan Valley. Continue to Jerash<br />

<strong>for</strong> a lunch cooked by women from a local<br />

village. Tour the ruins of the ancient Roman<br />

Day 5: Petra<br />

Enjoy a guided tour of Petra, the unique<br />

ancient Nabataean city that has been carved<br />

into the red rock face. (B)<br />

Day 6: Dead Sea<br />

Morning at leisure or optional 4x4 excursion<br />

into the desert at Wadi Rum (payable locally).<br />

Transfer to the Dead Sea this afternoon and<br />

stay 2 nights at Mövenpick Resort & Spa<br />

Day 7: Dead Sea<br />

Day at leisure. Optional excursion to the<br />

baptism site at Bethany, where it is believed<br />

Day 8: Jericho • Jerusalem<br />

Drive to the Allenby Bridge and cross the<br />

border into Israel. Continue to Jerusalem,<br />

stopping en route <strong>for</strong> a tour at Jericho, thought<br />

to be the oldest city in the world. Stay 3 nights<br />

at the Harmony Hotel or Arthur Hotel. (B)<br />

Day 9: Jerusalem • Bethlehem<br />

This morning take a half-day tour of the Old<br />

City of Jerusalem to see the Wailing Wall,<br />

the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the<br />

room of the Last Supper. This afternoon visit<br />

Bethlehem, known as the site of the nativity;<br />

your visit here will include the Church of the<br />

Nativity and Manger Square. (B)<br />

Day 10: Jerusalem<br />

A day at leisure, with a chance to visit the<br />

Israel Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls<br />

are displayed, or Masada, King Herod’s rock<br />

<strong>for</strong>tress (payable locally). (B)<br />

Day 11: Tel Aviv • Fly to London<br />

Travel to Tel Aviv and visit Jaffa, one of the<br />

world’s oldest ports. Later, transfer to the<br />
