Chris recalls: “I remember Nigel
Clough always turning up pretty
late to games, we got stuck in
traffic and ended up only getting
to the stadium about 45 minutes
before kick-off. That actually
took the edge off the nerves
for the boys because we were
massive underdogs. We had
some chances in the first half and
only lost to a penalty which came
from Jay McEveley handballing
at the back post. Jamie Murphy
had a couple of chances on the
break I think and Stefan Scougall
too. We played a back four, I was
often the centre-half in a two,
I really enjoyed that role. They
had some serious attacking
talent, but we always fancied
our chances of keeping the tie
alive going back to the Lane and
we managed to keep the likes
of Kane, Adebayor and Eriksen
pretty quiet. I remember they
threw Soldado on too chasing
a goal. Our fans travelled in
excellent numbers to White Hart
Lane, I had some family in the
crowd, and they got right behind
us in that far corner.”
