Chris recalls: “Harry Kane missed
a chance early on I think, and
he had one disallowed by VAR,
Jose Mourinho wasn’t happy
I remember that! My assist for
Sander’s first United goal was
my first in the Premier League,
having combined with George
before cutting it back and seeing
Sander fire it home. It was a night
to remember, and I also pocketed
Harry Kane’s shirt too. We’d won
3-1, I was buzzing I thought there
was no harm in asking him in the
tunnel and he didn’t hesitate to
give it me. The only thing that has
always upset me when thinking
back to this game and the wins
over Chelsea and Wolves too
around this time is thinking what
we would have been like with
fans in the stadium because we
were on a real roll at the time,
as we were before lockdown. It
would have been great to have
won some of those games in
front of packed out houses, it was
a fantastic Spurs side when you
look at the players on show, but a
European spot was very much in
our sights at this time. We pushed
ourselves and it was a fantastic
challenge to be part of, for a long
time it looked as if it was going
to happen, but that season is
one I’ll never forget because it
is packed with some wonderful
moments and results, against all
the odds really. We worked so
hard to get to the Premier League
and I just felt sorry for the fans
because they won’t remember
these matches like I do, they
weren’t behind us unfortunately
and can only recall them off the
highlights.”
