Chris recalls: “I just took a
step back and looked around
a wonderful stadium when we
walked out on to the pitch, it was
an incredible place to walk out
at and I think we relished the
challenge that day. We were in
good form, and they were too,
we were still the underdogs, but
we’d enjoyed a good start and
were causing teams problems
with the formation and style
Chris Wilder played. We scored
one of the best goals we’ve ever
scored in recent times through
John Lundstram, and it was
the first time VAR really denied
us from what I can remember,
Lunny was a toenail offside!
We’d gone behind to a goal
from Son, but we never gave
up, we fancied ourselves, the
manager had us fired up and we
managed to get a late equaliser
through a mishit from George
(Baldock)! People thought I’d
scored initially but it was his, me
and George always seemed to
play well against Spurs during
that period and we certainly
deserved a draw at the very
least, we could have perhaps
won it towards the end through
Didzy (McGoldrick). We were
riding the crest of a wave in the
Premier League at this time,
people had already written us
off, but we were proving people
wrong most weeks, the manager
played up to it and as players we
responded well and had a real
point to prove, particularly on
the biggest stages.”
