Aviation<br />
THE MUSEUM OF AVIATION<br />
is the second largest Air Force museum<br />
in the United States and a major<br />
U.S. Air Force Heritage, Exhibit and<br />
Education Center in the Southeast. It is<br />
a model base-community partnership<br />
which serves as the showcase of<br />
Robins Air Force Base, the largest<br />
industrial complex in the state of<br />
Georgia. Admission to the Museum is<br />
free. Hours of operation are currently<br />
Monday – Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00<br />
p.m. Updated hours of operations can<br />

org. The Museum is located 10 miles<br />
east of I-75 exit 144 at the end of Russell<br />
Parkway in Warner Robins, Georgia.<br />
The Museum has a large<br />
collection of approximately 85 historic<br />
U.S. Air Force aircraft, missiles and<br />
cockpits dating from a replica of<br />
an 1896 glider to modern aircraft<br />
in today’s U.S. Air Force inventory.<br />
The collection contains numerous<br />
historically significant artifacts including<br />
the SR-71 Blackbird that set the World<br />
Absolute Speed Record of 2,193 mph,<br />
an MH-53 helicopter that participated<br />
in the evacuation of Saigon, as well as<br />
numerous combat veterans of multiple<br />
wars. <strong>In</strong> 2013, the Museum of Aviation<br />
acquired a B-17G, which is currently<br />
nearing the completion of an 8-year<br />
restoration. This and other restoration<br />
processes are open for viewing in the<br />
Museum’s WWII Hangar.<br />
The Museum Foundation operates<br />
interactive world-class education programs<br />
through its National STEM Academy and<br />
STARBASE Robins. They both focus<br />
on Science, Technology, Engineering,<br />

Mathematics (STEM) and<br />
History. Opportunities for<br />
learners ages 4 through adult<br />
are conducted both on school<br />
sites, virtually and at the Museum of<br />
Aviation. An average of 30,000 students<br />
and teachers take part in the museum’s<br />

education programs each year.<br />
Educator Resource Center houses over<br />
50 STEM Kits and many books<br />
available for checkout in its<br />
Lending Library. Professional<br />
Development workshops are also<br />
available throughout the year.<br />
Since its inception<br />
in 1984 the Museum has<br />
welcomed over 14 million<br />
visitors from all over the globe.<br />
Six event spaces are available<br />
for rental for groups from 20<br />
to 1,000, whether for birthday<br />
celebrations, retirements, reunions<br />
or receptions. The Museum hosts<br />
numerous events throughout the year<br />
for the community’s enjoyment. <strong>In</strong><br />
January, the Museum will again<br />
partner with the Paralyzed<br />
Veterans of America to<br />
host its fourth handcycle<br />
race as part of the<br />
25th Annual Marathon/<br />
Half-Marathon and 5K<br />
race. Other events such<br />
as musical performances,<br />
annual Auction and Raffle,<br />
and historic programs are held<br />
at the Museum. The National<br />
STEM Academy hosts Super<br />
Saturday STEM Labs one Saturday<br />
each month, which provide students<br />
the opportunity to develop their
