Sander Berge says
netting United’s
first goal in the
crucial promotion-winning
showdown in midweek
was the ‘best moment’ of
his career to date.
The Norway international
netted his seventh goal
of the campaign to break
the deadlock against a
stubborn West Brom side,
who had, up until then,
frustrated the Blades
in a crucial promotion
showdown.

Sander hailed the work
of Iliman Ndiaye who
provided the assist, and
admitted scoring in front
of the Shoreham end was
the best moment of his
career so far.
He said: “It is the best
moment in my football
career, scoring the opener
in a game which we ended
up going up in, it couldn’t
be better. In front of the
Kop, it is amazing.
“I saw him (Ndiaye)
getting the ball and then
I knew he was turning
because he didn’t really
have an angle to shoot.
Once he turned his man,
I knew I had to get in front
of the goals. I just reacted
off his quality and decision
making which is top notch.
The ball he delivered was
perfect.”
Sander also stated that
earning promotion in front
of 30,000 Blades fans at
Bramall Lane was a perfect
scenario, hailing the faithful
for their continued support
since he arrived in S2.
He added: “The support
has been brilliant all
season so to win promotion
here was special.
“They have been there
every day since I arrived
here, they have been huge
for me and us as a team.
I can’t thank them enough,
and it was great to share
the moment with them.
“It’s where we wanted it
to be done. You want to do
it yourself, you don’t want
to rely on other results.
I am a little bit speechless
when things just happen
like that.
“The earlier we got it
done, the better. We knew
we had four games to do
it, but to do it on home soil
was special. Just a fantastic
moment.”
