FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH PEOPLE
SEEKING SANCTUARY
Throughout the course of
this season, we have been
working with partners to
increase opportunities
within physical activity
for refugees and asylum
seekers, or People
Seeking Sanctuary.
Through funding
gained via the European
Football Development
Network (EFDN), we have
partnered with Football
Unites, Racism Divides
(FURD) to deliver weekly
football sessions for People
Seeking Sanctuary, a space
where people can share
stories, achieve together
and make new friendships.
As we work to increase
opportunities, we have
also partnered with City
of Sanctuary Sheffield
(CoSS), a charity who work
in solidarity with people
seeking sanctuary in
Sheffield. Ourselves and
FURD represent the city of
Sheffield at CoS Sheffield’s
weekly drop-in session for
People Seeking Sanctuary,
where we provide
information to people
regarding physical activity
and sporting opportunities.
We work closely with
Mears Housing to provide
exercise classes for
people who live in their
accommodation sites. We
also invited some people to
a screening of the England
vs Iran game at Bramall
Lane during the World Cup,
and groups were invited
to attend the recent men’s
game vs West Bromwich
Albion and women’s game
vs Sunderland.
