DAY BLANK FIRING<br />
TACTICAL TASKS<br />
22-26 <strong>May</strong> <strong>2023</strong><br />
The general public is to be advised that a<br />
New Zealand Army Exercise will be<br />
conducted in the Castle Hill area over the<br />
period 22–26 <strong>May</strong> 23.<br />
The exercise will involve up to 50 personnel<br />
of Bravo Company, 2nd/1st Battalion, Royal<br />
New Zealand Infantry Regiment from<br />
Burnham Military Camp.<br />
Training will involve soldiers carrying small<br />
arms, conducting patrols through the forest/<br />
bush, conducting firing of blank weapons.<br />
Blank rounds and pyrotechnics will be used<br />
from 8am until 5pm. The exercise will also<br />
involve the movement of troops and vehicles<br />
by day and night. Soldiers may be used to<br />
secure areas as part of training scenarios<br />
only, and will not hinder civilian activity in<br />
the areas.<br />
The New Zealand Army takes fire risk<br />
seriously and will ensure fire mitigation<br />
is present.<br />
