Old friends…Sat on the park bench like<br />
bookends…winter companions…sharing<br />
a park bench quietly;…how terribly strange to<br />
be seventy.” The beautiful words of Paul Simon’s<br />
song “Old Friends.”<br />
Well, this month I will turn 70. Coincidently, Publisher Dan, my<br />
friend of 48 years will hit that mark three days later. We first met in<br />
June 1975 as we entered law school as<br />
22 year-old kids.<br />
Now, stop and<br />
take a deep breath<br />
- where did the<br />
time go? On my<br />
end, two children, two<br />
grandchildren and hundreds<br />
of events, including bar and bat<br />
mitzvahs and weddings for my family.<br />
And of course, traveling the world have filled these past 48 years, but<br />
oh my, how fast it<br />
has gone by.<br />
However,<br />
the making of<br />
memories need<br />
not stop at this<br />
advancing age.<br />
Even though some<br />
may say (golf pun<br />
intended) we’re<br />
on the back nine<br />
it sure beats the<br />
alternative. In fact,<br />
now is not the time<br />
to stop making<br />
memories.<br />
I say, go and<br />
Old Friends<br />
What happened to these kids?<br />
do, now! At this age, most of us have encountered health issues.<br />
However, if we’re standing, and in relatively good health, I say, go,<br />
now; do now.<br />
No one is guaranteed tomorrow. Continue to explore, face the world<br />
with a sense of curiosity and adventure.<br />
That’s why Dan and I, along with my Sharon and his Rana are<br />
headed out for a 70 th birthday European cruise. And unless Dan throws<br />
me overboard, I’ll report on our cruise in future editions.<br />
And that’s not all. Along with our Vegas Voyagers, we will go and do<br />
more (assuming the Almighty does not have other plans.)<br />
We have a couple of great fun-filled Bus to the Boat cruises in the<br />
works. We are also working on a Rhine River cruise in the very near<br />
future.<br />
We’re going to keep making memories, not only for ourselves, but<br />
also for our Vegas Voyagers family. Happy Adventures to all.<br />
