MABON
Sue Penney
Mabon is the festival that celebrates the autumn
equinox. This is around the 21st of September and is a
time for celebrating all of the things that we have from
the simple blessings in our life like our home and
families to the abundance of everything we have grown.
This would have been the harvest festival celebration in
years gone by.
This is also a time for reflection on the successes of the
year to date and for letting go of the things that no
longer serve you.
Mabon is the perfect time to set intentions, release bad
relationships and anything that is unhealthy or
destructive in your life.
I always find that September, especially is a great time
for new beginnings, with the new school year in the UK,
as a child it was always exciting to get our new things
for school. The blank exercise books and it always felt
like a fresh new start where everything was possible.
You can celebrate Mabon by decorating the house with
fresh and dried flowers, you can even buy or create
your own Mabon wreath to hang on your door.
Go apple picking, and have a picnic. The weather is
usually still clement in September.
Spend some time journalling all of year achievements
and blessings for the year so far.
Also note things that you still wish to achieve and
things that you wish to stop doing and remove from
your life.
