<strong>Alchemical</strong> <strong>Voice</strong> - L2M - Issue 22 CHOOSING AND CHOICES John Sjovik The few times when I have made clear and decisive choices, they have never been intellectual. All of them have been based on fear, fatigue, irritation, delusion, hope, desire and also (sometimes) on a gut feeling. When my decision has gone against my internal compass, it has always turned out to be wrong. When my decision has been founded on basic feelings such as fear and delusion, hope and desire, it has turned out to be wrong, or at least less wise. The best choices I have made in my life have been based on thorough logical analysis, matched against my gut feeling, my heart and with a healthy portion of doubt. The best choice is always slightly tainted with doubt. Doubt sharpens your senses and enables you to have greater awareness and critical analysis. You will continue to doublecheck information, question the seemingly obvious and make sure to always have a way to back out with keeping in control of possible losses, financial or emotional. Whenever you feel 100% certain, you should always pause for a moment and double-check. Also, note that what was a clear and obvious choice at one time, may not remain good at a later date. The situation you chose to enter may not fit you or be beneficial for you as you grow, learn more and become more nuanced and developed in your skills and abilities. It is always a good idea to re-evaluate the choices you once made, however good they might have appeared at one time. Everybody, including beggars, can and should be choosers.
