Happy Fall to All!<br />
If you hear about a volunteer position but don’t see<br />
it advertised, or have an idea for a volunteer role,<br />
please stop in to see me.<br />

noon.<br />

and Wed. afternoons (office in hallway by the<br />
arena) or contact me via email or by phone<br />
anytime.<br />

Orientation and Training<br />
All volunteers will be required to complete the<br />
mandatory Orientation & Training. The training<br />
can be completed from the comfort of your home<br />
<strong>online</strong>. For those who do not have access to a<br />
computer, training dates will be set up for you to<br />
attend in the near future.<br />

Upcoming Volunteer Awards<br />
Ontario Volunteer Service Awards<br />
This award recognizes volunteers for<br />
providing committed and dedicated service to an<br />
organization.<br />
Adults are recognized by the length of time<br />
they’ve volunteered with one organization, ranging<br />
from five to 65 years of continuous service. Youth<br />
(24 years old and under) are recognized for two or<br />
more years of continuous service.<br />
Deadline: November 1<br />
June Callwood Outstanding<br />
Achievement Award for Voluntarism<br />
This award recognizes people and<br />
groups who have made outstanding<br />
contributions as volunteers in their communities.<br />
There are two categories:<br />
Outstanding Volunteer Award: recognizes an<br />
individual or group for their commitment to<br />
volunteering and longstanding service to their<br />
community. Up to 20 individuals and/or groups<br />
receive this award each year.<br />
Excellence in Volunteer Management Award:<br />
recognizes an individual or group from an<br />
organization that is incorporated as a not-for-profit<br />
corporation or registered as a charity for their<br />
achievement in encouraging people to volunteer in<br />
their communities. Up to five individuals and/or<br />
groups receive this award each year<br />

GWSA COMMITTEES<br />
Computer Mentoring<br />
If you enjoy working with computers/iPads/Apple<br />
products and have experience in this area and<br />
would like to educate others, this is for you!<br />
Computer Mentoring is on Mondays in the<br />
afternoon.<br />
Bingo Volunteers<br />
Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 pm – 3:45 pm.<br />
This will include set up, selling of cards and<br />
concession items, confirming bingo winners,<br />
supporting the caller and other duties as needed.<br />
We are asking for a commitment of once to 4 times<br />
per month based on the volunteer’s availability.<br />
Special Events<br />
Looking for a team of volunteers to assist with<br />
planning, organizing and running special events<br />
throughout the year for the members and<br />
community.<br />
Sentinel Drivers<br />
The Sentinel team is looking for drivers to assist<br />
with the delivery of the monthly Sentinel<br />
