Migration of SIMATIC PCS / TISTAR systems with
505 controllers
■ Overview
Very many SIMATIC PCS / TISTAR systems are installed worldwide.
These systems represent a wealth of hardware, user software
and know-how accumulated by operating and maintenance
personnel. To preserve the installed PCS/TISTAR
platforms and add to their value, Siemens developed a migration
strategy which aims to modernize existing operator and engineering
systems whilst retaining the 505 controllers and the
lower-lying I/O level. With this strategy the customer can migrate
his existing system efficiently and economically without having
to replace any controllers, I/O devices or their wiring, and without
rendering the associated know-how useless.
