PHYLLIS GOODHEW RETIRES
Another retiree retires - again. Phyllis Goodhew
is stepping away from her role as Leader of the
Bid Euchre Club so that another senior
Evergreen member can have a leadership
experience.
Phyllis was a volunteer in Toronto for eight
years at an Elders Facility where she prepared
meals for Seniors. Then she was the leader of a
Bid Euchre Club for eighteen years before
moving to Guelph. Phyllis wanted to be closer
to her daughter and, being new to the city, she
joined the Evergreen Seniors Community
Centre to meet and make friends.
It seemed apropos that she be at the
Evergreen, since the Greek meaning of her
name means “green leaf”. Phyllis started the Bid
Euchre Club two years ago with one table of
four people playing the game. Today, the
number has increased to six tables, i.e., 24
seniors.
Her friends describe her as “a fabulous
friend”, “a fantastic lady”, and that “she would
do anything for anyone”.
