MIHAN DE SILVA<br />
<strong>AMSA</strong>’s Public Relations Officer manages <strong>AMSA</strong>’s national<br />
image and protects <strong>AMSA</strong>’s representation in the media. The<br />
officer works closely with the President and VPE to further<br />
<strong>AMSA</strong>’s external advocacy though contact with the<br />
government and external stakeholders including the AMA.<br />
Summary of <strong>2023</strong> year:<br />
IMIS<br />
Renewed and updates volunteering upskilling resources for media and public relations,<br />
including the Media 101 Package<br />
Delivery of media upskilling at National Advocacy Retreat, Global Health Executive and<br />
Management Team Retreat and <strong>AMSA</strong> National Advocacy Team,<br />
Received media and campaigns training from AMA Media Team in AMA Federal Office in<br />
Canberra<br />
Worked with the ABC to increase student interest in general practice<br />
Liaised with Senator Pocock’s Officer on ‘Raise-the-rate’ campaign targeting the cost-ofliving<br />
crisis and sent National Coordinator Josh Lowinger to speak in a Parliament House<br />
press conference representing medical students around Australia<br />
Briefed and secured positions for medical students to attend ABC Q+A in Melbourne and<br />
Sydney in relation to the GP workforce shortages and cost-of-living crisis
