MIHAN DE SILVA
AMSA’s Public Relations Officer manages AMSA’s national
image and protects AMSA’s representation in the media. The
officer works closely with the President and VPE to further
AMSA’s external advocacy though contact with the
government and external stakeholders including the AMA.
Summary of 2023 year:
IMIS
Renewed and updates volunteering upskilling resources for media and public relations,
including the Media 101 Package
Delivery of media upskilling at National Advocacy Retreat, Global Health Executive and
Management Team Retreat and AMSA National Advocacy Team,
Received media and campaigns training from AMA Media Team in AMA Federal Office in
Canberra
Worked with the ABC to increase student interest in general practice
Liaised with Senator Pocock’s Officer on ‘Raise-the-rate’ campaign targeting the cost-ofliving
crisis and sent National Coordinator Josh Lowinger to speak in a Parliament House
press conference representing medical students around Australia
Briefed and secured positions for medical students to attend ABC Q+A in Melbourne and
Sydney in relation to the GP workforce shortages and cost-of-living crisis
