AMSA ADVOCACY AMSA’s National Advocacy team has been working hard to represent and advocate for you at both the national and international levels. Key advocacy highlights include: AMSA Advocacy Team at ABC News Q+A AMSA’s Advocacy Team represented medical students at Q+A, specifically asking about GPs and our current health system Isabel Lee, our Advocacy Communications Officer asked the following to the Q+A panel: “As medical students, we are seeing our peers discouraged from entering GP training as we see our doctors on GP placement struggling with patient numbers and running small businesses, whilst hospital placements consist of a majority of our placement time. JUNE 2023 EMBOLUS A M S A E V E N T S A D V O C A C Y WELCOME Hello there, Welcome to the June 2023 edition of the Embolus. Here, we’ll be updating you on the upcoming AMSA events and summarise the advocacy achievements of AMSA. NATIONAL COUNCIL 2 AMSA 2023 National Council is an event open to ALL medical students and is convened three times a year. This event engages representatives from all AMSA groups and medical schools to review policies and provide reports on the current achievements and plans of AMSA committees. Additionally, the National Council provides a chance to network with like-minded peers and upskill. Our second National Council will be held at Brisbane this year! The dates are: · Saturday (1st July): Council 2 starting in the afternoon · Sunday (2nd July): Council 2 all day · Monday (3rd July): Council 2 in the morning & wrapping up by afternoon · Tuesday (4th July): AMSA Reps Breakout Day · Wednesday - Sun (5th July - 9th July): National Convention Any questions?
