Monash Hellenic Student Society:
MHSS was established in 2006 and since then
has been bringing the best of Greece to Monash!
We host a wide variety of cultural and social events
throughout the year, including our famous souvlaki
days, soccer tournaments, unrivalled tavern nights,
O-Week stalls, participation in cultural community
events and much more! Our events are guaranteed

to bring passion, kefi and glendi (as the Greeks
say!). We have the best of time doing everything
that is necessary to operate a successful club and
have cherished memories as proof!
Wired:
Wired is the official society for the Faculty of
Information Technology at Monash. If you're
passionate about computers, the IT industry, or just
want to hang out with other tech-minded people,
Wired is the club to be in. During the semesters
we run lots of different events ranging from our
Industry Night in March, to UniHack and our

Trivia Night in August and September. We aim to
offer a variety of different activities and events for
our club members ranging from fun and informal
lunches like our first week BBQ, to workshops with
our industry partners like Facebook and Deloitte.
Either way when you join Wired, you’re guaranteed
an awesome year at Monash. The best part is that
it’s free for MSA members and only $5 for nonmembers.
So come and say hi to us at our booth in
O-Week, we’ve got a few goodies to give away and
always have new tech to show off.
Engineers Without Borders Monash:
“Science or engineering related fields never
really interested me. However, I was lucky enough
to have attended a science program over the
summer holidays in 2014. Many among the cohort
were extremely passionate about STEM and had
amazing hobbies such as coding or building models
of planes and cars. Others, like me, were simply

curious about what The Conocophillips Science
Experience had to offer. It was there where I first
realised I had found my people and my calling, as
well as my first experience with Engineers Without
Borders. Fast forward two years, I’m volunteering
for EWB and absolutely loving the fact that we are
able to inspire students and bring to their attention
how cool STEM can be. One thing I noticed
during my time as a high-school student was that
engineering had almost no representation in the
majority of schools. I had no idea what engineering
was – maybe just people in hard hats who worked
on bridges and cars? So having this opportunity
to participate in STEM outreach and conduct fun
workshops which students of all ages can take
something away from amazes me. Sure, they might
decide that ‘engineering is not for me’. However,
it’s those few students whose eyes light up when
you show them a cool coding trick, or talk to them
about your studies and projects – it’s those few kids
who you can see start thinking ‘hey, maybe this
could be something I’m interested in…’ that really
make volunteering worthwhile.” - Helen Zhou
Monash Photography Club:
Have you ever wanted to capture a photo but felt
like too much of a tourist or felt guilty for slowing
people down? Join this club and be embarrassed
no more. We are a diverse group of people who
are passionate about photography and believe it
is worth any effort or stare to capture that perfect
shot. Throughout the year we hold workshops,

daytrips and road trips that allow you to learn
camera and editing skills, and travel with equally
passionate people. The club is beginner friendly so
there’s no need to be a professional or even own an
advanced camera (a phone camera will do!). Photos
have become an important aspect of expression
and marketing in this age of social media, therefore
photography is a super beneficial skill to acquire
and great fun to take up as a hobby.
Progressive Law Network:
The PLN stands for increasing awareness about
social justice issues and providing the opportunity
for passionate students to effect positive social
change. Last year, we launched a careers guide and
hosted many public lectures on interesting topics
such as animal rights issues, domestic violence and
international law. This year, we have introduced

a portfolio for mental health and are planning on
creating more policy reform opportunities. Our
welcoming and passionate committee members
will be organising many social activities for this
year which will be intermixed with our meaningful
lectures and debates. We hope to see you at our
upcoming meetings!
Monash Muggles:
If you’re still waiting for your Hogwarts letter
to arrive, wishing that Hagrid will bust down your
door to tell you “YER A WIZARD”, and craving that
little bit of magic on campus, then Muggles is the
club for you! From events like our annual Triwizard
Yule Ball (co-hosted with Melbourne University
and La Trobe) and trivia, to movie nights, game

nights, and Quidditch, the Monash Muggles is
the perfect club for anyone who has just seen the
films to the most dedicated Harry Potter fan. For

Monash Law Student’s Society:
The Monash Law Students’ Society has been
operating to serve law students since 1964 and is
one of the largest student societies at Clayton. We
have 7 different portfolios that offer a wide range of
experiences to students including: Administration,
Activities, Careers, Competitions, Education,
Social Justice & Equity, and finally, the Juris Doctor

portfolio for our postgraduate students. Whatever
your interests, the LSS has something for you
to enjoy! Whether it be Law Ball, Networking
Evenings, Social Justice Seminars or just a burger
