EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
There were 2,428 business jets operating in Europe at the end of December 2022, which was a year-on-year increase of
1.4%. The fleet changes during 2022 comprised 93 new deliveries, 210 pre-owned additions and 269 deductions, which
resulted in a net fleet addition of 34 aircraft. Business jet demand in Europe continued to be affected by the COVID-19
pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, especially for medium and long-haul flights, as travel restrictions to many
regions and countries remained in place during much of 2022. On a more positive note, the year-on-year fleet growth
and increasing number of Long Range and Very Light jets are signs of increased demand for European operators to use
business jets inside Europe, as well as on flights to destinations outside of the region.
Despite a 2.5% year-on-year reduction in
terms of fleet size, Textron continued to
be the most popular Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) in Europe with a
fleet of 929 jets and 38% market share
at the end of 2022. This highlighted
the preference for smaller aircraft and
shorter range flights in Europe, as 83%
of Textron’s fleet in the region comprises
Light and Very Light jets. The US-based
OEM delivered a total of 23 new jets
to Europe during 2022. Canadian OEM
Bombardier had a 24% market share with
a fleet of 576 jets, a net increase of four
over 2021. The Long Range Global 7500
accounted for 14 new deliveries to Europe
during 2022 – more than any other model.
French OEM Dassault had a fleet of 289
jets and 12% market share, which was
down by 2.7% year-on-year. Embraer’s
European fleet increased by eight units
over 2022 bumping up the Brazilian
OEM’s fleet share to 10% in the region
with a fleet of 254 jets at the end of 2022.
Gulfstream’s year-end 2022 European fleet
comprised 192 jets for a 8% market share,
mainly in the Long Range category. One
