ADVISING THE AUSTRIAN
GOVERNMENT ON HOW TO
ACHIEVE THE SDGS
Goal:
Support the Austrian Government’s strategy for
advancing SDG implementation.
Key Partners:
Austrian Government, SDG Watch Austria, Interministerial
Working Group for the SDGs (IMAG)
Guided by the BKMC’s mission to foster leadership for
the SDGs, the BKMC has been closely collaborating
with the Austrian Federal Chancellery since 2018 to
advance the implementation of the SDGs in and
by Austria.
In 2023, the BKMC successfully continued its
collaboration with the Austrian government to
accelerate the implementation of the SDGs on a
national and international level. The collaboration
included the multi-stakeholder event “SDG
Dialogforum 3.0”, the high-level panel discussion
“Inspiring Female Leadership for the Global Goals”
at the time of the UN’s High-Level Political Forum
on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023 in New
York, and the publication on SDG activities in
Austria from 2019 to 2023, “Austria’s Commitment
to the Agenda 2030”.
AUSTRIA’S COMMITMENT TO THE
AGENDA 2030
To showcase past achievements, the BKMC issued a
publication, “Austria’s Commitment to the Agenda
2030 – Initiatives and Activities of the Federal Chancellery
and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens
between 2019 and 2023”, to spread knowledge and
awareness on SDG work in Austria. At the heart of the
publication, Austria’s efforts at national, European, and
international levels are outlined, incorporating a great
variety of good-practice examples. Throughout the
publication, all chapters are accompanied by guest
comments and guiding quotes from experts and
high-level personalities who provide unique insights
into each topic and the 17 SDGs.
Against the backdrop of multiple crises, it is now more
important than ever to find global solutions based on
cooperation, partnership, and sustainability.
