ON THE HORIZON
Navigating Global Challenges with Purpose and
Progress
Under the leadership of our co-chairs, we have
successfully concluded 2023, and we will have
many opportunities in 2024 to continue to inspire
and foster leadership for the SDGs and the Paris
Climate Agreement with global leaders and young
changemakers.
In the realm of climate action, SDG 13, we will continue
to advocate for commitments and resources for
research and development in climate adaptation and
amplify the demands and voices of youth smallholder
farmers to realize SDG 2, Zero Hunger.
This year, we are proud to expand our reach through
the “Online Executive Training – Young Women
Leadership in Climate Adaptation” micro-project
implementation phase. Our expert council on
“Elevating Women Voices on Agriculture” is working
on three policy papers that will shed light on the
major problems of women smallholders in Sub-
Saharan Africa. We will also recognize and award
another EVWA Champion to share success stories of
women farmers’ empowerment.
Our collaboration with the Austrian government takes
center stage as Austria submits its second Voluntary
National Report to the UN this year. Especially in
this election year, our work with the Austrian
government and civil society promises to remain
an internationally unique force advocating for
sustainable development in the BKMC’s host country.
Building upon the success of the first International
Forum on Global Citizenship Education in Salzburg,
we are grateful for the support of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and the
Salzburg Global Seminar to host a second Forum on
Global Citizenship Education.
We will continue to empower youth with the BKMC’s
training, scholarship, and mentorship programs and
play an active role in Mission 4.7 alongside UNESCO
and SDSN. We will aspire to our ambitious goal of
reaching 10,000 young people globally with our
online course and training on green jobs.
Our collaboration with our New York sister office, the
Ban Ki-moon Foundation, promises to be fruitful and
reinforces our dedication to the next generation of
leaders as we scale their SDG Micro-Projects.
As we venture into 2024, the BKMC remains steadfast
in its commitment to driving positive change.
Together, as global citizens, let us continue to strive
for a more sustainable and equitable future.
