Project Name: “College of CIT Community Service Certificate
Programme”
Stephanie’s “College of CIT Community Service Certificate
Programme” empowered students between the ages of 11
and 16 years at the Torrequebrada International College
to become local changemakers. By integrating ESD and
GCED learning objectives, the pioneering program fosters a
profound understanding of community issues, bridging the
gap between local challenges and global interconnectedness.
Students actively partnered with local organizations to conduct
community work. Activities included organizing outdoor
cleanups, conducting a volunteer fair with local organizations,
as well as coordinating a food, clothing, and toy drive.
Project Name: “Empowering Emerging Professionals
through Career Planning Training and Mentorship”
This workshop-based project empowered 35 emerging
professionals through career planning training and
mentorship initiatives to address unemployment in
Ethiopia. Led by a dedicated team, it featured in-person
training for 15 participants, complemented by two
virtual workshop sessions engaging over 25 attendees.
With a focus on quality education, ongoing one-onone
mentorship provided vital support until December
2023. The project established the “Aspire Africa” LinkedIn
page and YouTube channel, leveraging these platforms
to disseminate opportunities and informative content.
Fostering collaboration and outreach, it exemplified a
Winifred Maduko, Nigeria
BKMC Scholar
Project Name: “Every Drop is My Pride”
Winifred’s project “Every Drop is My Pride” implemented an
in-person event in the rural communities of Egede Ogwofia
Imezi-Owa, Ezeagu Local Government Area, and Enugu State,
Nigeria. By educating 54 young girls between 11 and 18 years
old in Nigeria on menstrual health and providing access to free
and usable sanitary products, the girls gained confidence. They
acquired knowledge about their general menstrual health
and how to attend school classes during their menstruation
cycles, they learned how to produce a reusable pad, and felt
confident to teach their peers about period stigma.
