Goal:
Connect GCED practitioners with experts and
empower the ideation and implementation of
GCED Micro-Projects around the world.
Key Partners:
Korea Foundation
Transformative Education, prominently including GCED,
is the answer to many of the challenges of tomorrow.
GCED empowers learners of all ages to become further
active promoters of more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive,
secure, and sustainable societies, while promoting a
global perspective on local challenges.
In its mission to advocate GCED around the world, the
BKMC’s “Learners to Leaders: Nurturing Change Makers
through Global Citizenship Education” empowers
GCED practitioners from formal and informal
education sectors in Europe, Africa, and Asia. South
Korea´s unique expertise in GCED was highlighted
and, through a series of virtual roundtables and
workshops in May 2023, 15 young participants took
part in discussions with leading GCED experts. They
looked at teaching methods and best practices, as
well as the recent status of research on GCED from
a global and regional perspective. They listened to
inputs from experts in the fields of communications,
project ideation, and management to improve their
own working methods and expand their network in
the GCED sphere.
Through a mentoring phase, the participants developed
their project proposals and received seed
funding to implement their GCED Micro-Projects.
Following six months of intensive work and regular
check-in meetings with the BKMC team and their
peers, the cohort successfully implemented 15 GCED
Micro-Projects, reaching more than 28,000 people all
over the globe.
