ONBOARD Magazine summer 2023

Get Onboard ONBOARD is aimed purely at the superyacht professional – whether onboard or shoreside. 100% of your spend will hit your targets on the Mediterranean from Palma in Mallorca, Barcelona, through France to Genoa and beyond together with Montenegro and the Aegean, plus the eastern seaboard of Florida. We hand deliver every copy to superyachts over 30m to make sure your message gets in to the hands of the decision makers on board. The publication is also delivered to relevant businesses around the ports and marinas together with shipyards. We also attend the major yacht shows in Monaco, FLIBS, METS, Boote Dusseldorf, Palma and MYBA for on site distribution. Plus, we post over 500 copies to relevant businesses not on the Mediterranean such as the UK, the Netherlands, Germany the rest of northern Europe and of course the USA and Caribbean. We work hard to develop a publication that all the crew and land based decision makers will read from cover to cover. An enjoyable and informative read for everyone means your message will be read. Talking about your brand, product, services and your team is essential and with our help, the message hits the right decision makers.

KISMET
90
An award-winning 95 metre Lürssen superyacht,
Kismet is the ultimate entertainment vessel with a
volume of 2,928 GT. Delivered in 2014, the aim was
to construct a megayacht with engineering ahead of
her time. Exceptional features include not one but
two helicopter pads, a private observation platform
with an outdoor bed created for stargazing, which
can be locked off to other guests and crew.
THE PERCENTAGE OF
MARINE ORGANISMS
THAT SPEND AT LEAST
PART OF THEIR LIFE
IN THE MANGROVES.
THEY ARE IN DANGER
BUT ARE A CRITICAL
HABITAT FOR SPECIES
ABOVE AND BELOW THE
SURFACE
SHINE A LIGHT
The Nitecore EDC27 is the
perfect night-time companion.
3,000 lumens and a maximum
beam distance of 220 metres, a
maximum run time of 37 hours in
a handy 124g bundle.
OUTRAGEOUS REQUESTS
The owner’s granddaughter dropped her
favourite crayon overboard, she throws
a wild tantrum, but we were in the middle of the
ocean. We did a U-turn so a diver could find the
ostensibly precious crayon (he never did). Can
you imagine the fuel wasted!
SPOTTED IN THE MED
FLYING FISH
Perhaps the most fascinating
Mediterranean species of all
is the flying fish. It uses two
pairs of elongated pectorals
to catch updrafts, sailing out
of the water for distances of
655 feet at heights of over
four feet. This bizarre ability is
said to have evolved to escape
predators, like mackerel, tuna,
swordfish, and marlin.
OPEN TO
QUESTION
WHAT’S THE MOST
INTERESTING
(OR RIDICULOUS)
THING A GUEST’S
EITHER SAID TO
YOU, OR ASKED
YOU THIS WINTER
SEASON?
ANDREA GARBULA
CHEF
A guest repeatedly
asked for a 6 egg vegan
omelette. They thought
just the yolk was from
an animal. With a side
of turkey bacon. Guess
turkeys aren’t animals
either?
FREDDIE VERE NICOLL
MATE
My favourite one was
“Do you all arrange to
be pointing in the same
direction or are there
rules for which direction
you must anchor so all
the boats point in the
same direction?”
MICHAEL DOYLE
ENGINEER
“How do the crew get
home every night?
Helicopter?” Why yes
Madam. Next morning,
Captain gets a complaint
that a guest couldn’t
sleep due to noise from
the helicopters.
SEAN BALLINGTON
CHEF
A guest wanted to take
some Caribbean Sea
home in a bottle, having
gathered some it was
deemed to be not blue
enough … and could we
move the boat to that
bluer spot please.
