c. Holders of visitor visas granted under V3.100 Guardians accompanying students to <strong>New</strong><br />

<strong>Zealand</strong> may only be granted a variation of conditions for part time work between the<br />

hours 9:30am and 2:30pm Monday to Friday (inclusive) (see V3.100.35).<br />

d. Holders of visitor visas may be granted a variation of conditions for a duration of six weeks<br />

to undertake seasonal work (planting, maintaining, harvesting and packing crops) in any<br />

region where the Ministry of Social Development has identified a shortage of seasonal<br />

labour and for any employer in the horticulture or viticulture industries, provided the<br />

applicant has not been granted a variation of conditions for this purpose since their most<br />

recent entry to <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>.<br />

W2.30 Work visas<br />

<strong>Immigration</strong> officers should refer to the following subsections (W2.30.1 to W2.30.10 below)<br />

when deciding what sort of work visa to grant.<br />

W2.30.1 Single journey work visas<br />

a. Single journey work visas and entry permission may be granted to working visitors who<br />

intend one visit to <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>.<br />

b. A single journey visa is normally current for travel within one month of the applicant's<br />

intended date of arrival, unless the immigration officer considers the applicant's<br />

circumstances warrant a longer or shorter period.<br />

W2.30.5 Multiple journey work visas<br />

a. Multiple journey work visas and entry permission may be granted to frequent travellers if<br />

immigration officers are satisfied that:<br />

i the applicant's passport is valid for a sufficient period; and<br />

ii the applicant has not breached the conditions of their visa (or permit granted under<br />

the <strong>Immigration</strong> Act 1987) on any previous visit.<br />

b. Multiple journey visas may be current for travel for a maximum of 5 years, depending on<br />

how long the employment offer or contract lasts.<br />

W2.30.10 Group work visa<br />

a. Group work visas may be granted to groups of people who intend to arrive together in<br />

<strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> for the same purpose.<br />

b. Group visas should name each member of the group and are current for travel within one<br />

month of the applicants' intended date of arrival in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>, unless the immigration<br />

officer considers the applicants' circumstances warrant a longer or shorter period.<br />

c. A leader must take charge of the group work visa and present it on arrival with the<br />

passports or certificates of identity of the people named in it.<br />

d. Group work visas may also be granted to crew members travelling to <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> to join<br />

the same vessel, provided that all persons covered by the visa arrive in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong><br />

together.<br />
