V3 SPECIAL CATEGORIES OF VISITORS<br />

V3.1 Group visas<br />

a. Group visas may be granted to groups of people who will be arriving in, and visiting <strong>New</strong><br />

<strong>Zealand</strong> together, for the same purpose.<br />

b. Group visas should name each member of the group and be current for travel within one<br />

month of the applicants' intended date of arrival in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>, unless the immigration<br />

officer considers the applicants' circumstances warrant a longer or shorter period.<br />

c. A leader must take charge of the group visa, and:<br />

i present it on arrival with the passports or travel documents of the people named in it;<br />

and<br />

ii ensure that the group stays together as a single unit on arrival and completes all<br />

necessary arrival formalities.<br />

V3.5 Business visitors<br />

a. Business visitors who are not considered to be undertaking employment (see W2.2.1) may<br />

be granted a visitor visa, provided that they intend a stay in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> for no longer<br />

than 3 months in any one year.<br />

b. Business visitors who are not considered to be undertaking employment include the<br />

following:<br />

i representatives on official trade missions recognised by the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> Government;<br />

ii sales representatives of overseas companies in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> for a period or periods no<br />

longer than a total of 3 months in any calendar year;<br />

iii overseas buyers of <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> goods or services for a period or periods no longer<br />

than a total of 3 months in any calendar year;<br />

iv people undertaking business consultations or negotiations in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> on<br />

establishing, expanding, or winding up any business enterprise in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>, or<br />

carrying on any business in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>, involving the authorised representatives of<br />

any overseas company, body or person for a period or periods no longer than a total<br />

of 3 months in any calendar year.<br />

c. Business visitors who need to be in <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> for longer than 3 months in any one<br />

year, and all other business visitors, must apply for a work visa (see WS2).<br />

Note: Business visitor instructions reflect <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>'s international trade commitments (see<br />

E9).<br />
