The evaluation of breed<strong>in</strong>g value ...<br />
results <strong>in</strong> decrease of number of bulls <strong>in</strong> populations, therefore their <strong>in</strong>dividual<br />
effect on the selection results is considerably greater.<br />
Conclusion<br />
Basic requirement of the modern cattle production is improvement and<br />
enhancement of the genetic capacities of animals for production of milk, meat and<br />
calves. In application of high quality breed<strong>in</strong>g males with proven genetic potential<br />
will contribute to improvement of production and reproduction traits of the cattle<br />
population <strong>in</strong> Serbia.<br />
In this process, the evaluation of the parents' breed<strong>in</strong>g value is one of the<br />
priorities. Application of l<strong>in</strong>ear methods <strong>in</strong> evaluation of breed<strong>in</strong>g value contributes<br />
to significant improvement of the evaluation from the aspect of <strong>in</strong>clusion of more<br />
available <strong>in</strong>formation.<br />
BLUP is one of the lead<strong>in</strong>g methods used to achieve progress <strong>in</strong> population<br />
genetics, s<strong>in</strong>ce it is possible to <strong>in</strong>clude own results and production results of<br />
<strong>in</strong>dividual animals. By comb<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the methodology of mixed model, method of<br />
least squares and selection <strong>in</strong>dex method, BLUP is applied world wide as standard.<br />

Rezime<br />
Osnovu <strong>za</strong> svaki selekcijski rad predstavlja poznavanje kvaliteta bikova<br />
očeva koji se koriste <strong>za</strong> oplodnju, kao i nač<strong>in</strong> prenošenja važnijih svojstava na<br />
potomstvo. U osnovi najpovoljnijeg rešavanja problema ocene aditivne genotipske<br />
vrednosti osob<strong>in</strong>a u govedarstvu leži BLUP metod (Best L<strong>in</strong>ear Unbiased<br />
Prediction), koji se primenjuje u raznim varijantama <strong>za</strong>visno od strukture podataka.<br />
Ovim istraživanjem je obuhvaćena 2.121 kontrolisana prvotelka<br />
simentalske rase, sa laktacijama <strong>za</strong>ključenim u toku jedne god<strong>in</strong>e. Sve prvotelke su<br />
