The finest standard and HDTV The future of European television is called HDTV (High Definition Television). By the end of the year, around 44 million HDTVequipped TV sets should be installed in domestic living rooms worldwide. Also with the high resolution DVD replacement, the Blue-ray Disc, many are now discovering the splendid HDTV for themselves. The switchover to HDTV transmission, with a resolution of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels is imminent. Even now, via DigitalSat, there are some free-to-view HDTV channels available for viewing around the clock. Above all, sporting events come to life more than ever before with the large, pin-sharp and rich detailed HD images along with brilliant colors. Often accompanied by crystal clear DolbyDigital sound, HDTV really gives you the feeling of actually being there, whether it is a documentary or a major event. Already in 2008, some broadcasters have considerably upgraded their HD offerings. For those who get themselves a top class receiver and subsequently want to invest further, they can no longer ignore HDVT. Moreover, with the DIGIT HD8-SX, Technisat has developed an HDTV-capable satellite receiver, which as well as the normal range of programmes receivable via DigitalSat, can also receive HDTV programmes. Assured of the future and ready for Pay TV broadcasts The DIGIT HD8-SX is also the optimal device for receiving Pay TV and pay radio: an integrated CONAX decoding system facilitates the receiving of decoded TV and radio programmes, while it also includes a smartcard and SIM card reader. There are a total of two reading units, which open the door to accessing the programmes from a diverse range of producers. Via 2 identical Common Interface slots (CI), the DIGIT HD8-SX can also be upgraded to incorporate the use of additional decoding systems. This helps avoid viewer restrictions, thanks to the deployment of the latest technologies. Devices with this logo incorporate the SCR function and the DiSEqC protocol in accordance with EN50494 and are thus deployable for their TechniRouter products. INFODIGITAL December 2008 21
