Install and Configure a <strong>Software</strong> Update<br />

To install a software update for <strong>SAS</strong> <strong>9.3</strong>:<br />

1 If your deployment includes a Web application server, undeploy all of your <strong>SAS</strong> Web<br />

applications. For more information, see “Undeploying <strong>SAS</strong> Web Applications and<br />

S<strong>to</strong>pping the Web Application Servers” on page 43.<br />

2 Terminate all active <strong>SAS</strong> sessions, daemons, spawners, and servers. It is important<br />

<strong>to</strong> s<strong>to</strong>p the <strong>SAS</strong> servers in the inverse order that they were started. For more<br />

information, see “Overview of Server Operation” in Chapter 5 of <strong>SAS</strong> Intelligence<br />

Platform: System Administration <strong>Guide</strong>.<br />

3 Verify that all machines where you are installing the software update have <strong>SAS</strong> <strong>9.3</strong><br />

software installed.<br />

Note: When installing the software update, you must use the same operating<br />

system accounts that you used <strong>to</strong> install <strong>SAS</strong> <strong>9.3</strong>.<br />

4 For each machine in your deployment, start the <strong>SAS</strong> Deployment Wizard from the<br />

highest-level direc<strong>to</strong>ry in your <strong>SAS</strong> <strong>Software</strong> Depot. You can start the <strong>SAS</strong><br />

Deployment Wizard in the following ways:<br />

Windows Double-click setup.exe in the highest-level of your <strong>SAS</strong> <strong>Software</strong><br />

Depot.<br />

Note: If you are running Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server<br />

2008, you might have <strong>to</strong> right-click the setup.exe file and select Run as<br />

administra<strong>to</strong>r.<br />

UNIX Execute setup.sh from the highest-level direc<strong>to</strong>ry of your <strong>SAS</strong> <strong>Software</strong><br />

Depot.
