<strong>The</strong>se <strong>coins</strong> were probably issued on the occasion of some local games (Hist.<br />
Num., p. 141). <strong>The</strong> presence of the quadriga is undoubtedly due to the victory<br />
by Gelon in the chariot-race at Olympia in B. C. 485 (Comparette, Bement<br />
Cat., p. 18).<br />
