Troubleshooting and failure analysis Heavy damage on pulley flange from impact of foreign object or poor installation practice. Pollution of belt fibers inside of pulleys– material from belt has overtime gone into workings of bearing unit and caused failure. Excessive corrosion/material leading to ingress of contamination past the seal, causing premature failure. Heavy damage on the second face of idler and bearing seal, probably caused by an external element coming in contact with the pulley during running.
