Common video recorder formats will be described and<br />

demonstrated . Students will learn methods for cleaning<br />

video tape recorders, diagnosing synchronization<br />

problems, checking cable integrity, adjusting color bars<br />

and phase with waveform monitors, ensuring proper<br />

genlock signal to integrated equipment and integrating<br />

equipment of differing formats . Students are required<br />

to attend additional lab hours outside of class .<br />

An overview of the principles of video/audio postproduction<br />

editing from tape-to-tape linear editing . It<br />

includes fundamental electronic concepts, assemble<br />

editing, audio and video insert editing, equipment<br />

operation, story construction, special effects utilization,<br />

EDL formation and utilization, and control track vs .<br />

time code editing . There will be extensive hands-on<br />
