will focus on current trends in the broad topics of<br />

human ecology, human rights, the environment,<br />

culture and the social institutions . Special attention will<br />

be devoted to the conflict and security, international<br />

governmental and nongovernmental entities, social<br />

An introductory Spanish course which emphasizes<br />

listening comprehension and speaking skills . Reading<br />

and writing may be done as reinforcement to oral<br />

communication skills . The course is slower-paced<br />

and less comprehensive than Spanish 1411 . It is<br />

highly recommended for students without previous<br />

experience in the Spanish language . This course is<br />

not open to students whose first language is Spanish .<br />

<strong>General</strong>ly, does not transfer as foreign language credit,<br />

but may transfer as elective credit .<br />

Continuation of SPAN 1300 . Emphasizes oral<br />

credit . Students who continue the study of Spanish<br />
