Alcoa, the global aluminium producer hasnamed<br />

Keith Walton Vice-President, Government<br />

Affairs. He succeeds Russell Wisor,<br />

who is retiring after 33 years of service. The<br />

Board of Directors has also elected John<br />

Kenna as Vice-President, Tax and an Officer<br />

of the company and Olivier Jarraultto the<br />

additional position of Executive Vice-President.<br />

He was recently appointed President,<br />

Alcoa Engineered Products and Solutions.<br />

Charles Wilson, Chief Executive, Booker<br />

Group plc,has become President of IGD, the<br />

international food and grocery analysts.<br />

Fiona Dawson, President, Mars Chocolate<br />

UK, becomes Vice-President. Both will serve<br />

for two years.<br />

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company<br />

S.A. has appointed John Hunter as a member<br />

of the Board of Directors of Coca-Cola<br />

Hellenic.<br />

D.D. Williamson has appointed Jason<br />

Armao to its Science and Innovation team<br />

at its Global Support Center in Louisville,<br />

Kentucky. As Application Project Manager, he<br />

will lead the development of colour solutions<br />

for customers' individual requirements.<br />

D.D. Williamson Europe has promoted<br />

Barry Foley from Technical Services Manager,<br />

Europe to the new position of Application<br />

Technologist in Science and Innovation.<br />

Also in Cork, Ireland the company has<br />

named David Lawlor as Quality Assurance<br />

Manager. Elsewhere, D.D. Williamson (UK)<br />

Ltd in Manchester has announced the hiring<br />

of Steven Critchley as Plant Manager and<br />

Maryam Nobari as Quality Assurance Manager.<br />

Fortitech Europe ApS has appointed<br />

Kevin Tshimpamba as Business Development<br />

Manager for the African market, responsible<br />

for managing food, beverage and pharmaceutical<br />

sales in the region.<br />

Specialist plastics packaging technology<br />

business Petainer has appointed Martin Lenz<br />

as its new Group Finance and IT director.<br />

John Longworth has been appointed to<br />

the Board of Nichols plc, the UK soft drinks<br />

group as a Non-Executive Director.<br />

Owens-Illinois Inc, the world’s largest glass<br />

packaging maker, has named Dr Deborah<br />

Hockman Vice-President of Global Environment,<br />

Health and Safety. In the newly created<br />

position, she will lead O-I’s global<br />

efforts to enhance the company’s safety,<br />

environment compliance and health<br />

processes, standards and metrics.<br />

The UK's Natural Hydration Council has<br />

restructured its management team and<br />

appointed Kinvara Carey as its first General<br />

Manager. The Council's Director of Communications,<br />

Ian Hall has stepped down from<br />

Evelyne Frauman as Quality and Environment<br />

Manager. The organisation is a federation<br />

of four multi-national producers of steel<br />

for packaging – Arcelor Mittal, Tata Steel<br />

Steel Kosiçe. In total these four companies<br />

employ over 200,000 workers in Europe.<br />

Braby, one of the UK's largest suppliers of<br />

process systems and engineering solutions,<br />

has extended its team of industry experts<br />

with the recruitment of two new professionals,<br />

Derek Burrows and Graham Stirk.<br />

Together they hold almost 60 years’ worth<br />

of experience in the material processing and<br />

handling industry.<br />

Univar, a leading global chemical distributor,<br />

has appointed Catherine Martin as<br />

Quality and Regulatory Affairs Leader. In this<br />

newly created role, she will drive compliance<br />

with all Univar’s regulatory and quality<br />

processes in Europe.<br />

Eveline Grünenfelder has been appointed<br />

Marketing Assistant at Corvaglia, the caps<br />

and closures group.<br />

Kevin P. Mahoney has been elected Senior<br />

Vice-President of Corporate Planning for<br />

Sonoco, the US$4.1 billion global manufacturer<br />

of industrial and consumer products<br />

and provider of packaging services. He is<br />

responsible for leading the company's<br />

merger and acquisition efforts along with<br />

corporate planning.<br />

steps down<br />

THE British <strong>Soft</strong> <strong>Drinks</strong> Association (BSDA)<br />

has announced the resignation of Marnie<br />

Millard as its Vice-President following her<br />

resignation from Refresco. The association<br />

says her contribution to the work of BSDA<br />

was greatly valued and that she will be<br />

sorely missed.<br />

At its January meeting the Executive<br />

Council supported the Board of Management’s<br />

recommendation that David Saint,<br />

Managing Director of Gerber Juice Company<br />

Ltd should be elected Vice-President<br />

of BSDA. His nomination will be ratified at<br />

the Annual General Meeting on 10th May<br />

2011.<br />

Also at the meeting the Executive Council<br />

approved the recommendation that Graham<br />

Neale, past President of BSDA and<br />

UNESDA, and recently retired Senior Vice-<br />

President & General Manager of Glaxo-<br />

SmithKline Nutritional Healthcare, be<br />

awarded Honorary Membership of BSDA.<br />

for FDF<br />

Jim Moseley, Managing Director of General<br />

Mills, UK, Ireland and the Nordic markets,<br />

has succeeded Ross Warburton as President<br />

of the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) –<br />

the voice of the UK food and drink manufacturing<br />

industry.<br />

Over the past four years Moseley has<br />

been Vice- and Deputy President of FDF<br />

and chair of its Food Safety and Scientific<br />

Steering Group. He has over 30 years' experience<br />

in the food and drink manufacturing<br />

industry within a broad range of categories<br />

including sports drinks.<br />

Moseley said: “I am proud of the food<br />

and drink industry in this country and<br />

delighted to take on this role.”
