CHAIRMAN’S
STATEMENT
DEAR SHAREHOLDERS,
TRADEWINDS PLANTATION BERHAD (“TPB” OR THE “GROuP”)
CAN LOOk BACk ON THE yEAR uNDER REvIEW (“Fy 2010”)
WITH A SENSE OF SATISFACTION AND ACCOMPLISHMENT.
IN SPITE OF THE DECLINE IN THE PRODuCTION OF CRuDE
PALM OIL IN MALAySIA IN 2010, THE GROuP WAS ABLE TO
OvERCOME THE CHALLENGES TO POST RECORD EARNINGS
GROWTH AND PROFITABILITy.
Revenue rose by 34.2% to RM909.1
million from RM677.4 million registered
in 2009. Profit before tax rose 3-fold to
RM282.4 million from RM78.3 million
in 2009. Significant gains were also
made on other fronts, notably in
operational efficiencies and resource
allocation. On the strength of these
results, FY 2010 was a watershed year
for the Group, heralding our emergence
as one of the main players in the
country’s plantation sector.

Through all our efforts, a solid
foundation has been established for the
Group to ‘Forge Ahead and Achieve
Strategic Growth’. In striving towards
our ultimate objective of increasing
shareholder value, we will ensure that
all our operations are economically,
socially and environmentally sustainable
in conformity with the 3Ps-bottomline,
namely Profits, People and the Planet.
For a relatively young entity, TPB has
made major strides forward since its
listing on the Main Board of Bursa
Malaysia on 15 March 2006. However,
I firmly believe that TPB remains an
unfolding story with many more pages
and chapters to be filled. From our new
position of strength and guided by a
clear vision of where we should be
heading and a road-map that will take us
there, we stand at the threshold of a new
phase of dynamic growth with exciting
possibilities and prospects. I invite you to
continue journeying with us to unlock the
Group’s significant potential.
