• The Group achieved a much
improved safety performance in
FY 2010, and this was reflected in
the lower number of accident
cases, number of work-days lost
and fatal cases reported.
• The Group continued to expand
the breadth and depth of its talent
pool through ongoing recruitment,
training and human resource
development efforts.
Progress was also made in the Group’s
bid to gain Roundtable Sustainable
Palm Oil (“RSPO”) Certification.
Landbank
The Group has a landbank of 141,465
hectares, of which 77,124 hectares or
54.5% are located in Sarawak, another
11,302 hectares or 8.0% are in Sabah,

while the remaining 53,039 hectares or
37.5% are in Peninsular Malaysia.
Some 95,270 hectares or 67.3% have
been developed into oil palm and
rubber estates, with another 12,235
hectares or 8.6% under development.
As at year end, the Group’s total
remaining plantable reserves stood at
24,491 hectares, which will be
developed over the next four years.
Maturity Profile
Some 44,779 hectares or 49% of our
oil palm plantations consist of trees at
the prime age of between 9 and 18
years. Another 20,940 hectares (23%)
comprise immature trees of 1 to 3 years,
while young trees between 4 and 8
years make up 18,326 hectares (20%).
The remaining hectarage consist of
trees that are past their prime or due for
replanting.
The Group also has 579 hectares of
mature rubber plantations. Since 2008,
concerted efforts have been made to
pursue our crop diversification
programme, and as a result, we now
have 4,164 hectares of plantations
planted with rubber trees.

For the industry as a whole, the adverse
weather conditions and flooding in
certain areas had affected the national
average FFB yield, which in turn
contributed to a lower CPO production.
Peninsular Malaysia was the most
severely affected, with average FFB
yields declining by 7.5%, followed by
Sabah and Sarawak of 4.7% and 2.6%
respectively.
