3.7 Book Keeping :
3.7.1 The process of recording the books of account i.e. cash, credit and
other transaction is known as book keeping.
3.7.2 Every time a cheque is written the book keeper records it with the
date.
3.7.3 Every time something is received it is recorded with date.
3.7.4 Present model accounting prescribed by C & A. G for PRIs which is
being adopted by Panchayati Raj Department, Government of Orissa is
based on cash basis single entry accounting book keeping system.
3.7.5 There is a trend to switch towards accrual based double entry book
keeping system of accounting in present model accounting system.
