Environment Variables<br />

Example Suppose you want your application <strong>to</strong> run in French. The application will<br />

be used in France and data will be displayed using <strong>the</strong> WE8ISO8895P1 character set.<br />

You would set NLS_LANG as follows:<br />

NLS_LANG=French_France.WE8ISO8895P1<br />

Now, suppose you still want your application <strong>to</strong> run in French, but this time it will be<br />

used in Switzerland. You would set NLS_LANG as follows:<br />

NLS_LANG=French_Switzerland.WE8ISO8895P1<br />

B.1.15 NLS_LIST_SEPARATOR<br />

Description This environment variable specifies <strong>the</strong> character used <strong>to</strong> separate items<br />

in a list.<br />

B.1.16 NLS_MONETARY_CHARACTERS<br />

Description This environment variable specifies <strong>the</strong> decimal character and thousands<br />

separa<strong>to</strong>r for monetary values.<br />

Description This environment variable specifies <strong>the</strong> location of AFM files. TK90_<br />

AFM is considered first, <strong>the</strong>n ORACLE_AFM.<br />

Valid Values Any direc<strong>to</strong>ry on any drive.<br />

Default Not defined.<br />

Usage Notes<br />

■ If you do not specify values for ei<strong>the</strong>r of <strong>the</strong>se variables, <strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>Reports</strong> looks for<br />

AFM files in:<br />

ORACLE_HOME/guicommon9/tk90/admin/AFM<br />

■ Printing on UNIX requires some setup and configuration <strong>to</strong> create <strong>the</strong> proper<br />

printing environment. For detailed information, refer <strong>to</strong> Printing on UNIX with<br />

<strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>Reports</strong>.<br />
