246 GlSELA RIPOLL LÚPEZ el ius l~tii.55~ En un primer momento la propiedad de la tierra estuvo bastante dividida, pero ello no impidió que en el espacio de pocas generaciones se produjese una concentración de la pr~piedad,~" teniendo este fenómeno una gran incidencia durante el Bajo Imperi~.~~' Por otra parte, las ciudades ubicadas en pequeñas llanuras costeras basaban su economía en el comercio y en la explotación de las riquezas marinas, siendo la salazón del pescado la principal actividad.562 En torno a ésta, cuyos productos -túnidos y cetáceos en salazón, gamm y púrpura- alcanzaron una gran fama en época imperial, prosperaban también las salinas y los alfares. Al parecer, las factorías de salazón empezaron a entrar en un cierto decaimiento de la actividad a partir del siglo 111 d.C., hasta su desaparición entrado ya el siglo VI d.C. De cualquier forma, estos y otros productos, tal como ya se ha visto, conformaron una importante actividad comercial de las ciudades costeras durante la antigüedad tardía. Los diferentes tipos de hábitat Es dentro de este paisaje donde se ubican los cementerios con sepulturas y materiales fechables desde entrada la segunda mitad del siglo VI y que perduran hasta principios del siglo VI11 (fig 43).
