13. Obtención y determinación de
nuevas fases de películas orgánicas
autoensambladas (SAMs). El uso de
ditioles.
fases moleculares (algunas metaestables y susceptibles
13. Obtention and determination of new
phases of organic Self Assembled
Monolayers (SAMs). Use of dithiols.
Keywords: self-assembly molecules (SAM), dithiols, atomic
forces microscopy (AFM)
Following our research and thanks to the SAMs preparation
method developed by us and used for alkanethiols
(S-Cn) below the monolayer completion, we
obtain new molecular phases (some metastable phases
not reported before whose transitions can be tip-induced).
These phases can be structurally determined by
the combination of both atomic force microscopy (AFM)
and grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXRD). Our
present work includes both structural and tribological
characterization extended to dithiols (Cn-S- S-Cm).
Similar studies will be carried out with mixed films (Cn-
S, Cm-S). The goal being the design, from our results
comparison and by choosing the appropriate concentration
n-m, those films whose tribological properties
(mainly mechanical strength and low friction)would be
adequate for the devices fabrication. One important
contribution is the capability of inducing structural
transformations (phase transformation) by “AFM- tip
manipulation at nanometric scale” and subsequently
obtaining patterns presenting differentiated properties
depending on local site.
14. Preparación de nanotubos de
carbono por técnicas químicas en
fase vapor
Palabras clave: nanotubos de carbono, catalizadores,
CVD
(CH 4 ).
14. Synthesis of carbon nanotubes by
chemical vapor techniques
Keywords: carbon nanotubes, catalysts, CVD
Carbon nanotubes deposition process from hydrocarbon
sources is being studied. For succeeding in the
nucleation process, the presence of metallic particles,
as catalyst, is necessarily required. Iron and nickel particles
have been deposited on silicon substrates in
order to promote the growth of carbon nanotubes.
From the obtained results, we may conclude that nanotubes
formation and their appropriate orientation result
after the homogeneous distribution and size control of
the catalyst particles. We have deposited carbon nanotubes
(50 nm diameter) from methane by LPCVD at
800ºC, on silicon substrate covered by a 30-80 nm
thick Ni coating, treated at 800ºC in an ammonia
atmosphere. Besides, some attempts are being developed
using radiofrequency or microwave plasmas for
methane molecules activation.
