¿Cómo es el árbol?<br />
La papaya pue<strong>de</strong> medir <strong>de</strong> 2 a 8<br />
m <strong>de</strong> altura, su tronco es hueco y<br />
cilíndrico, presenta cicatrices por<br />
la caída <strong>de</strong> las hojas. La corteza<br />
es lisa, <strong>de</strong> color ver<strong>de</strong> grisácea y<br />
produce un exudado blanco si se<br />
le hacen incisiones.<br />
Las hojas son gran<strong>de</strong>s, carnosas<br />
y gruesas <strong>de</strong> forma palmeada, y<br />
tienen pecíolos largos.<br />
Sus flores son estaminadas y<br />
bisexuales <strong>de</strong> color blanco a<br />
amarillo pálido.<br />

El fruto es una baya <strong>de</strong> forma elipsoi<strong>de</strong><br />
