Transportando los sueños y la historia de la Ciudad Puerto
60th Anniversary Trolley. Carrying the dreams and the history of the port city
Durante seis décadas han recorrido
las calles de Valparaíso con su
ritmo pausado pero constante,
llevando por igual a los porteños
en sus quehaceres cotidianos y a
los turistas que descubren en
este medio de transporte público
una nueva forma de conocer la
ciudad. Son seis décadas que han
convertido a los trolebuses en
parte de la identidad local, en
una herencia de otros tiempos
que a pesar de los años sigue
prestando sus servicios tal como
lo hacía el siglo pasado.
Con el propósito de mantener
vigente este legado, y como
parte de las celebraciones por el
aniversario número 60 de su llegada
al Puerto, la empresa
Trolebuses de Chile decidió
entregar para uso de la ciudadanía
13 de estas máquinas refaccionadas.
Son las mismas que en
1953 arribaron desde EEUU,
importadas por la Empresa de
Transportes Colectivos del
Estado, convirtiéndose en un
sistema de traslado de pasajeros
que fue considerado entre los
más modernos de la época.
For six decades they have
journeyed the streets of
Valparaiso with a slow but steady
pace. The trolleys equally carry
the locals about their daily
business as well as the tourists
who find this form of public
transportation a new way to
discover the city. There are six
decades of people who have
made the trolleys part of their
local identity, a legacy of the
past that, in spite of of the years,
continues to serve as it did in the
last century.
In order to keep the legacy alive,
and as part of the celebrations
for the 60th anniversary of its
arrival to the port, the company,
Trolebuses de Chile, decided to
give the citizens thirteen
refurbished machines. They are
the same as those which arrived
in 1953 from the United States.
Imported by Collective Transport
Company of the State, they
become a mode of public
transportation that was
considered among the most
modern of that time.
