Uno de los lugares que conquistó sus sentidos fue Valparaíso, ciudad
donde decidió radicarse. Al entrar a su casa, que pareciera ser una
galería de arte, nos encontramos con un centenar de sus cuadros,
algunos de ellos adornan las paredes y otros a medio terminar.
¿Cómo te inspiras para crear una pintura?
Cada época tiene su proceso creativo, cuando comienzo un cuadro no
sé en lo que va a terminar, uno lo que busca es capturar una atmósfera
determinada, hay algo que te habla de un lugar, por ejemplo, los bares
porteños me atraen por el concepto de las chicas de la noche, en
definitiva disfrutas de un lugar, pero al mismo tiempo lo estudias.
Generalmente los cuadros que pinto son inconscientes, no me dejo
llevar por un esquema, a veces cuando despierto y los veo pienso que
alguien en la noche los arregló.
¿Qué es lo que te encanta de Valparaíso?
Me gustó su atmósfera, que sea una ciudad caminable y lo promiscua
que es, uno se puede asomar por la ventana y ver lo que pasa en otra
casa y obedece a su geografía. Además me impresiona las historias del
el puerto y cómo se mezclan, por ejemplo, puedes ver un mendigo de
ojos azules e inmediatamente pensar que fue el fruto de la pasión
fugaz de un marinero que llegó a estas costas, ahí nace una historia
para contar.
Poco a poco y mientras avanzamos en la conversación acompañados
de un café, Gonzalo nos comenta que es la nostalgia lo que busca
atrapar de la realidad , esa mezcla de lo bello con lo triste, además nos
habla de sus sueños y proyectos.
¿Eres una persona solitaria o generalmente estás acompañado?
La verdad es que paso por épocas, paso por tiempos en que suelo ir a
fiestas con amigos y otras un poco mas solitario, vivo sólo en esta casa
y frecuentemente no hago más que pintar, le dedico todo el día a esta
labor, aunque no siempre lo esté haciendo, la pintura es parte de mi
vida cotidiana, pero por ejemplo, los fines de semana me visita mi
novia y compartimos una cena acompañada por un buen vino, eso me
distrae.
One of the places which captured his senses was Valparaiso, where he
decided to settle. Upon entering his house, which seems to be an art
gallery, we were met with a hundred of his paintings, some of which
adorn the walls and other lay half-finished.
What inspires you to paint?
For each age I have my own creative process. When I begin a painting I
don't know how it will end, what one looks for is to capture a mood,
something that speaks for the place. For example, the bars of the port
attract me, this concept of the girls of the night. You can really enjoy a
place while you study it at the same time. Generally I paint pictures
that are spontaneous; I am driven by a scheme. Sometimes when I am
awake and I look at my paintings I think that someone in the night had
done it.
What do you love about Valparaiso?
I liked the atmosphere, it's a walkable city and a promiscuous one.
Somebody can peek through the window and see what's happening in
other houses due to the geography. Also, the blood of the port
impresses me and how it mixes in. For example, you can see a blue
eyed beggar and immediately think that was the fleeting passion of a
sailor who came to these shores, now that really tells a story.
Gradually, as we flowed through the conversation accompanied by
coffee, Gonzalo said that it was nostalgia that he seeks to capture. The
reality, that blend of the beautiful with the sad, and he spoke of his
dreams and projects.
Are you a loner or are you mostly accompanied?
The truth is that I go through periods when I go to parties with friends
and others where I am a little more solitary. I live by myself in this
house and I usually don't do much more than paint. I dedicate the
whole day to my work, although I am not always doing it. Painting is
part of my daily life, but for example, on the weekends, I visit my
girlfriend and we share a meal with glass of fine wine, this distracts me.
