Reconocida como Ciudad Patrimonio de la Humanidad, a su ingente patrimonio monumental y artístico suma Córdoba un
equipamiento cultural capaz de acoger festivales y eventos de la talla de los que se reseñan a continuación.
Recognised as a World Heritage Site, to its wealth of monuments and history, Cordoba can add a breadth of cultural
experience and knowhow which has allowed it to organise festivals and events of the calibre of those we outline below.
El Gran Teatro de Córdoba ofrece desde enero a junio y de septiembre a diciembre una completa programación cultural en
la que ocupa un lugar destacado la música clásica, siendo el plato fuerte la temporada de abono de la Orquesta de Córdoba
(octubre a junio), institución que tiene en su haber casi 1000 conciertos en los más variopintos escenarios con primeras audiciones
para España y Europa además de numerosos estrenos absolutos. Los Jueves Musicales de la Magdalena (febrero a abril y
octubre a diciembre) y, en noviembre, el Festival de Piano ‘Rafael Orozco’ completan esta oferta más clásica.
Tambien se convierte durante todo el año en el escenario escogido por las más renombradas compañías de teatro para dar a conocer
sus obras al gran público, destacando la variedad de géneros y la diversidad temática.
El Teatro Avanti, el Teatro Cómico Principal y el Teatro de la Axerquía (al aire libre) acogen también interesantes montajes.
En Córdoba la cita musical con mayúsculas es el Festival de Guitarra celebrado en julio, que goza de gran reconocimiento
nacional e internacional debido a la alta calidad de sus participantes. A su programa formativo se une el de Grandes conciertos y
Espectáculos que se desarrollan en recintos y plazas emblemáticas de la ciudad. La guitarra sirve también de excusa a proyecciones
de cine, exposiciones, conferencias...
En el mes de agosto tendrá lugar el Festival Internacional de Musica
Pressjoven. Y durante todo el año en los distintos centros
Cícvicos se desarrollará el programa musical “ Cultura en Red”.

most prestigious theatre companies who offer a wide range
of different kinds of performances throughout the year.
The Avanti Theatre, the Cómico Principal Theatre
and the open air Axerquía Theatre also stage interesting
productions.
Contemporary Music. Cordoba’s principal musical event
is the Guitar Festival which is held in July and has
become extremely well known at both a national and
international level thanks to the prestige of the performers
taking part. As well as its educational side, the Festival
features large-scale concerts and shows which are held in
important and emblematic parts of the city. The guitar is
also the protagonist of film projections, exhibitions, and
conferences. Other events include the Contemporary Music
Days in March, April, and May.
In the month of August will take place on International
Music Festival Pressjoven. And throughout the year in
the various civic centers will develop the music program
“Culture in Red”
Flamenco plays an important role in the city’s cultural
calendar, with prestigious events such as the National
Competition for Flamenco Art which has taken place
every three years since 1956 and is held in April and May.
Organised by the Gran Teatro de Córdoba Municipal Public
Foundation, its importance is illustrated by the list of
prestigious performers who have won awards: Fosforito,
José Menese, Paco de Lucía, Serranito, El Lebrijano,
Manolo Sanlúcar...
