1.1.2 <strong>No</strong>rms<br />

As there were conflicts about<br />

the compatibility of cards and<br />

the integration of different systems,<br />

it was established a <strong>No</strong>rmalization<br />

to define the main<br />

characteristics of contact-less<br />

cards and avoid conflicts.<br />

The first norm is the general<br />

norm for Cards and Personal<br />

Identification, which range of applications<br />

are shown in the following<br />

chart.<br />

The access control cards are<br />

based in ISO 7810 norm which is<br />

divided in two applications: contact<br />

cards and contactless cards.<br />

And finally the norm that applies<br />

to contact-less cards for transport<br />

use is ISO14443.<br />

The ISO 14443 norm has four<br />

main chapters:<br />

• Chapter 1: Physical Characteristics.<br />

(ISO/IEC 7810-1)<br />

• Chapter 2: Radio Frequency<br />

interface.<br />

ISO 14443 A<br />

ISO <strong>No</strong>n Compatible:<br />

Tipo C (SONY)<br />

• Tipo D (OTI)<br />

• Tipo E (CUBIC)<br />

• Tipo F (LEGIC)<br />

• Tipo G (HUAHONG)<br />

• Chapter 3: Initializing and anti<br />

– collision.<br />

• Chapter 4: Transmission Protocol.<br />

1.1.3 ISO 14443 type A and B<br />

The most commonly used contact-less<br />

cards are the following:<br />

• TypeA: Mifare Ultralight, Mifare<br />
