16This failure to ensure that the first-order relations were familiar means that theyounger children’s failure to solve the item analogies in Piaget’s experimentscould have arisen from a lack of knowledge of the relations being used. Itemanalogies based on unfamiliar relations would obviously underestimateanalogical ability. (Goswami, 2001, p. 440)Goswami (1992; 2001) propose donc certains éléments qui pourraient contribuer à mieuxmesurer les capacités analogiques chez les enfants.Dans la matrice à deux paires A:B::C:D, la relation entre A et B doit être lamême que celle entre C et D, ce que Goswami (1992) nomme la contrainte de similitudede relation.
